Film: Selma in Library Event Area In-Person
Election Day Film Event and Returns Viewing Program Description: Drop in to watch the historical voting rights film, Selma, directed by the acclaimed Ava DuVernay, who most recently brought Isobel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents to the screen. Selma documents the marches led by Dr. King and others in 1965 from Selma to Montgomery. Afterwards, our screens in the Library will be tuned to election results up until 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be served.
Selma: The marches from Selma, Ala., to Montgomery to secure voting rights for black Americans are depicted in this docudrama set during the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, and which focuses on the actions of Martin Luther King Jr.
